Welcome to the Salt Spring Island Beekeepers website! Whether you are new to beekeeping or are a seasoned apiarist we hope that Salish Sea area beekeepers will find this information useful and enjoyable.
Wednesday Dec. 10th - 6:30 p.m. at the Farmer's Institute (upstairs meeting room) please join us for our AGM, board position elections, 3rd annual honey tasting, and potluck. Renew your membership at this meeting and you will automatically be entered to win your dues for 2015.
Introductory Beekeeping Course
Facilitated by Wendi Gilson and David MacDonald (Beemasters UBC 2014)
March 3 -April 7 at the Salt Spring Island Public Library (co-sponsered by SSI Public Library)
Tuesdays 7-9:30 pm
Followed by two sessions in the field .
The first session (March 3) will be open to the public . The movie, Queen of the Sun will be shown. This event will be by donation /proceeds to Hives for Haiti.
The next 5 sessions plus the two in the field will be for course participants.
We will have some nice local honeybee stock and equipment available for purchase by course participants .
We are offering one scholarship to attend the course. Contact us if you would like to apply deadline Dec 31.
The course will be limited to 16 people, so if you want to sign up you should do so sooner rather than later .
Course fee: 300.00 including a take home workbook.
